ANCIENT DOME - Demo 2008 (Independent / 2008)
These young italian thrashers hail from Saronno - home of the famous Amaretto. They have their third demo out and the four songs on it are as fine, as that liqueur...
Ancient Dome play their Thrash in the veins of legends like Testament or Metallica, mixed with some influences of 80s Power Metal. "Ancient Dome" starts as a crushing in-your-face-thrasher with harsh and mean vocals. The song has a very catchy bridge followed by a gang-shouted chorus and some great riffing. "Human Key" comes up with a very fine melodic intro, rises to a straight-forward speedster, before turning into the brilliant power middle-part with twin-guitarwork, a moody lead solo and some gang-shouts. "State of Regression" begins with an air-raid siren and an increasing, atmospheric doublebass intro. The rest of the song is made of mid-speed and up-speeded Power-Thrash parts, with doublebass sections. "Fall of the Dominion" is a straight thrasher with great riffs.
All in all, Ancient Dome have made a big progress and come up with some very mature songwriting, a brilliant guitar-work (melodic twin-parts, power-riffing, tempo variations, clear soloing), a skilled rhythm-section that gives the songs a unique groove, some typical harsh Thrash vocals (like they have to be!) and catchy vocal-melodies - great stuff, all the way..! The demo is well produced, in a cool old-schoolish sound.
Ancient Dome will bring out their self-financed full-length debut "Human Key" in the near future, and I`m very sure, that it will become a Power-Thrash killer!!
